Coarse fishing an enjoyable hobby for all.

Hello there,
so what is coarse fishing? Well in my opinion coarse fishing is the best sport on the planet and i say sport because it can be very competitive.

Coarse fishing consists of an angler fishing fresh water lakes and rivers for the various different species that inhabit these areas.  There is a vast amount of different species, but some of the most common in the UK and Europe are roach, rudd, dace, bream, perch, pike, zander, chub, barbel, carp and wells catfish. For anyone to be able to go fishing, they must have a valid rod licence. For adults 16+ it is £27 per year for coarse licence, 12-16 is £5 and under 12 is free. You can buy online or from your local post office. Make sure you get one because getting caught without one could result in a hefty fine of up to £2,500!! No one want's to get that, so full details can be found here Environment agency fishing licence info.

I have always been a keen angler, ever since i was a child and caught my first fish. I remember that day very well. I was five years old and fishing at my local lake with my older brother. It was a scorching hot summers day and i had a kids float rod set and a box of maggots that brother brought for me. It wasn't long before i had a bite and caught my first fish ever! It was a beautiful little perch a bit like this one below.

What my brother failed to tell me was the needle like spins along the back of this fish. Not forgetting this was my first fish and i was five i just thought it would be o.k to grab. But do you know that little sod spiked me good and proper and my brother was in hysterics. This however was a good lesson learned as i haven't done it since!

From that day forward i was hooked! I wanted to go all the time just for that rush of adrenalin you get when you hook a fish. I'm not sure if it's the excitement of how big the fish could be or what it could be that keeps me hooked. I think it's a bit of both. When i was a teenager i started studying fishing from various books and magazines and not just coarse fishing but sea fishing too. I wanted to learn as much as possible so i could have a bigger advantage of catching the most or biggest fish rather than sit there and watch other anglers totally smash it!
It has to be my number one way of unwinding and i'm sure it will be yours too. So if your not already fishing then give it a go, you will not be disappointed. I will be posting more helpful tips and bargain buys like the perfect pole starter kits below in a bid to get everyone hooked on fishing.
Pole fishing is an excellent way to start fishing as there is no reel involved and the tactics are very simple. As you are usually targeting smaller fish on pole tackle, the bites tend to happen fairly quickly so you are kept busy and start getting the feel for it. I would appreciate any feedback through comments and if you liked it please plus 1 me below.  Happy catching and speak soon :)
